Civil & Political Rights Committee held its 5th meeting

Civil and Political Rights Committee of the National Institution for Human Rights held its 5th meeting on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 Headed by HE Ms. Jamila Ali Salman, and the membership of HE Mr. Farid Ghazi Rafie and HE Mr. Abdul-Jabbar Ahmed Al-Tayeb.
During the meeting, the minutes of previous meeting was approved and the committee reviewed the report associated with the recommendation of the Committee on the need to amend the Nationality Law on the granting of Bahraini women equal rights to men with respect to obtaining nationality for their children, and present the advisory opinion prepared by the Secretariat General in this regard.
The committee also discussed the National Strategy for Children and the law of juveniles including the increase of the age of juvenile to 18 years and the subsequent precautionary measures thereof. It was decided to submit a working paper for reviewing and showing the proposed amendments in the next meeting of the Committee.
