Civil & Political Rights Committee -17 ordinary meeting

Civil and Political Rights Committee of the National Institution for Human Rights held its 17th ordinary meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2014 Headed by HE Ms. Jamila Ali Salman, and the membership of HE Mr. Farid Ghazi Rafie.
During the meeting, they discussed some of the proposals made by the Committee regarding the establishment of a conference on childhood in the next year to spotlight the Children's Act and the Juveniles Act, in addition to a proposal to amend the law on political rights by adding severe penalties on the use of children in electoral propaganda.
The Committee also discussed a proposal on modifying the Criminal Procedure Code to appeal remand and adding an amendment to determine a fixed respite before which interrogation with the accused cannot start unless his lawyer is present. The Committee has commissioned the Secretariat General of the National Institution to further study those proposals.
