Civil and Political Rights Committee at the National Institution for Human Rights held its 19th ordinary meeting on Thursday, February 12, 2015 headed by Ms. Jamila Ali Salman, and the membership of Mr. Farid Ghazi Rafie and Mr. Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati.
During the meeting they discussed two scenarios prepared by the Secretariat General, at the request of the Committee.
The first scenario included a comparative study of the legislation of some countries on the criminalization of the use of children during the election period where the Committee discussion was concluded by adopting a recommendation to amend the text of articles (60) and (69) of Law No. ( 37) for 2012 by issuing the Children's Act.
The second scenario centered on the possibility of amending the text of Article 82 of the Decree-Law No. (3) for 1982 on the public security forces system which was later amended by Decree-Law No. (37) for 2002 adding the court of cassation in the formation of military courts.
The Committee concluded by adopting a recommendation to amend the mentioned article to in line with the Decree Law No. 34 of 2002, issuing the Military Penal Code, as amended by Decree No. (46) of 2010, which created the Court of cassation to be added to the military courts lineup which are abiding the officers and members of the Bahrain Defence Force.
