The Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms holds its Twenty-fifth Meeting Remotely

Under the chairmanship of Dr. Badr Mohamed Adel, membership of Mr. Ahmed Mahdi Al-Haddad, and Mrs. Wedad Radhi Al-Moosawi, the Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms held its twenty-fifth meeting remotely. The Committee opened its meeting by extending its warmest greetings and blessings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the monarch of the country, May God protect him, and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister and distinguished Government on the occasion of the start of the holy month of Ramadan. The Committee commended the generous gesture of the beloved monarch of the country for providing assistance and financial support to the Bahraini fishermen, standing by his fellow citizens and helping them by providing all the assistance they need.

Within the same framework, the Committee stressed that this support for fishermen who have been subjected to harassment in their livelihoods has brought happiness and joy to the hearts of citizens and their families, and contributed to alleviating the burdens of life and paying for the cost of the losses they suffered.

 

 

The Committee also commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to double the disbursement of social assistance allocations disbursed to those entitled to social security and disability pensions in the blessed month of Ramadan by directing the competent authorities to initiate the disbursement of these dues, reflecting His Royal Highness's keenness to reduce the living burdens on low-income families in light of economic conditions and  the difficult impact of the Corona pandemic and the requirements of the holy month of Ramadan.

Then the Committee discussed what was accomplished regarding the entirety of its previous decisions and recommendations and the measures taken therein in light of the Committee's completion of its discussion regarding the development of proposals for a number of round table activities the NIHR intends to coordinate to hold during the current year, which all aim to promote and protect human rights of all kinds, civil, political and economic. With regard to establishing its values ​​in society in a manner consistent with what was stated in the NIHR's strategy and plan of action for the years 2019-2021, the Committee proposed looking into  holding an online event on the principle of equal opportunities and gender balance to improve the productive process in the public and private sectors, with the aim of shedding lighting the implications of this principle for human rights, and specifically the rights of employees and workers of these sectors.
