Civil and Political Rights Committee holds its fourth ordinary meeting

The NIHR’s Committee on Civil and Political Rights held its fourth ordinary meeting headed by Ms. Jameela Ali Salman. The meeting was attended by committee members Mr. Khalid Abdul Aziz Al Sha’er and Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed its opinions on the amendment of some provisions of the Bahraini Nationality Act of 1963, referred to it by the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security at the Council of Representatives. In addition, the Committee reviewed the questionnaire referred to it by a group of researchers in the University of Nottingham on life imprisonment penalty in order to assist in collecting the necessary data about such penalty and the relation thereof to the maximum penalties applicable within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On the other hand, the Committee reviewed the questionnaire referred to it by the Ministry of Interior in relation to resolution No. 11/29 on the negative effects of corruption on the enjoyment of human rights seeking the opinion of the NIHR on the best practices related to combating corruption and protecting and promoting human rights.
