Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Civil and Political Rights holds its 15th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Mrs. Jameela Salman and membership of Mr. Khaled Al-Shaer.

The Committee discussed Secretariat General’s opinions on the Draft Law to ratify the Arab Convention on Combating Information Technology Offenses accompanying Decree No. 6 of 2016 and the Draft Law to ratify the Arab Convention against Transnational Organized Crime accompanying Decree No. 78 of 2015, for referral to the Council of Commissioners based upon the request of Council of Representatives’ Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security for NIHR’s opinion and feedback thereupon.

In another context, the Committee studied its proposal for a National Legislation on Administrative Law, guided by comparative Arab legislations, laws and regulations.  It decided to refer the issue to the Secretariat General to prepare a draft study thereupon.  The Committee further approved the proposal on regulations to grant temporary permission for inmates in the reform and rehabilitation centers to attend the funerals of their deceased relatives.  It decided to raise the issue to the Council of Commissioners for referral to the competent authorities.
