NIHR’s Committee on General Rights and Freedoms holds its 2nd Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on General Rights and Freedoms held its 2nd regular meeting at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef district headed by Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel. Present were Committee members Mr. Ahmed Mahdi Alhaddad and Mrs. Wedad Radhi Almoosawi at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef district.
During the meeting, the Committee agreed to hold joint meetings with a number of human rights bodies, aiming to enhance the cooperation between the NIHR and those bodies, by introducing the NIHR’s role in the promotion and protection of human rights and its terms of reference provided for in the Law No. (26) of 2014 as amended by the Decree-Law No. (20) of 2016.
The Committee commended Bahrain’s efforts and the prominent role of all agencies, ministries and bodies to promote Bahraini women and to empower them at all levels and in all fields, in addition to the measures aimed to provide a motivating environment for women in Bahrain. This was in the course of the Committee’s discussion of the House of Representatives’ proposal to grant permanent residence permit to the sons of Bahraini women from a non-Bahraini father.
