NIHR’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms convenes its 5th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms convened its 5th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Dr. Badr Mohamed Adel and membership of Mr. Ahmed Mahdi Al-Haddad and Mrs. Widad Radi Al-Moosawi at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef district.
The Committee opened its meeting by discussing the applications received by the NIHR from the Council of Representatives for obtaining NIHR’s opinion on the proposed law to amend Article (278) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, promulgated by the Decree-Law No. (46) of 2002, and the proposal to grant foreign husband a residency permit with the sponsorship of Bahraini wife and to ensure its compatibility with international and regional human rights instruments. The Committee also stressed that it works hard to protect and promote human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Committee discussed the importance of extending bridges of cooperation and communication with the concerned bodies, with a view to identify the most important practices in-force and the services provided to people with disabilities, especially the educational ones provided by the Ministry of Education relating to the integration of special needs students in public schools.
At the conclusion, the Committee discussed its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon.
