NIHR’s Committee on General Rights and Freedoms convenes its 11th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on General Rights and Freedoms convened its 11th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel and membership of Mrs. Wedad Radhi Almoosawi and Dr. Malallah Jaffar Alhammadi. The meeting was held the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District.
The Committee continued the discussion of its proposals and initial conceptions about the round tables that the NIHR intends to hold during the current year aimed at protecting human rights, in line with the NIHR's strategy and action plan for the years 2019-2021, which concluded with a proposal to hold a number of round tables that are closely related to the protection and promotion of civil, political, economic, social and cultural human rights.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed its opinions on the US Department of Labor’s report on child labor in the Kingdom of Bahrain and decided to conduct further study to be discussed in the Committee’s next meeting.
The Committee also adopted the proposal of the NIHR Secretariat General to hold a round table on the reality and challenges of the elderly in the Kingdom of Bahrain, during the first quarter of this year, where it stressed the importance of highlighting the rights of this group being eligible to receive care.
