NIHR's Committee on Civil & Political Right holds its 14th ordinary meeting

The NIHR's Committee on Civil & Political Rights held its 14th ordinary meeting under chairpersonship of HE Ms. Galela Ali Suleiman. The meeting was attended by HE Mr. Khalid Abdul-Aziz Al Shaer and HE Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel.
The Committee reviewed a proposal prepared by the NIHR's Secretariat-General on the controls on granting temporary permission for inmates or those held custodial detention in the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centers to attend the funeral ceremony of deceased relatives. These controls have been drafted pursuant to the international standards in this regard reflecting the minimum standard rules in dealing with the prisoners issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Council as well as the UN Group of Principles for the Protection of All Persons under Any Form of Detention or Imprisonment issued by United Nations General Assembly.
In addition, the best Arab and international experiences in this regard have been referred thereto and the Committee decided to refer the proposal to the NIHR Council of Commissioners for approval after making some amendments thereto by the Secretariat- General.
