The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Holds its 4th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights' (NIHR) Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights held its 4th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Mr. Farid Ghazi. The meeting was held at the NIHR's headquarters in the Seef District and was attended by Committee Members Dr. Abdulrrahman Jawaheri and Dr. Jameela Al-Sammak.
The Committee reviewed its proposal prepared by the Secretariat-General on the extension of the age of compulsory education to include secondary stage, by amending the stipulations of Articles (1), (6) and (7) of Act No. (27) of 2005 on Education, in order to include secondary stage in compulsory basic education.
The Committee also reviewed a proposal to amend Article (45) of Act No. (23) of 2014 on issuing the Traffic Law based upon the request of Council of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security for the NIHR’s opinion and feedback on the amendment. The Committee will next meet on Sunday 23 August, 2015.
