NIHR's Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Holds its 6th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights holds its 6th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Mr. Farid Ghazi and membership of Dr. Abdulrrahman Jawaheri and Dr. Jameela Al-Sammak at NIHR headquarters in Seef District.
The Committee reviewed General Secretariat’s study on the possibility to amend Law No. (23) of 2014 on issuing the Traffic Law in which fines collected from offenders using the parks of disabled persons in Bahrain are to be reallocated to the general budget designated to Ministry of Social Development to be spent on the beneficiaries in this category.
On the other hand, the Committee reviewed a paper presented by Dr. Jameela Al Sammak in a seminar on the Executive Bylaws of the Reform and Rehabilitation Foundation Law organized by the Center for Arabian Gulf Studies on Wednesday 30 September, 2015 entitled “Women Rights in Reform and Rehabilitation Foundation Law and its Executive Bylaws”. The Committee will hold its next meeting on Sunday 8 November, 2015 to study possible guarantees for optimal practice of rights for women in reform and rehabilitation centers.
