NIHR’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities convenes its 41st Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities has convened its 41st regular meeting, under the chairpersonship of D. Malallah J. Al-Hammadi, and membership of Mrs. Hala Ramzi Fayez.
The meeting reviewed the details of the visit to the Sheikh Al Farsi Center for Comprehensive Speech Therapy, under the Ministry of Social Development. The visit aimed to assess the quality of services offered at the center and ensure the provision of a safe, healthy, and stimulating educational environment that contributes to the development of the capabilities of the target group.
The committee also continued to discuss its proposed plans for field visits over the coming months of the current year to several correctional and rehabilitation centers, health and social care homes, and educational institutions. These visits aim to verify the availability of basic rights for individuals in these institutions and for their visitors, in alignment with national legislation and relevant international instruments.
