Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee holds its 14th Regular Meeting

The NIHR Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee held its fourteenth ordinary meeting on Monday, 14th April 2014 headed by HE Dr. Mai Suleiman Al Otaibi. The meeting was attended by the Committee Members HE. Dr. Fawzeya Saeed Al Saleh and was held at headquarters of National Institution for Human Rights in Seef District.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed holding educational activities concerned with human trafficking for the purpose of increasing public awareness of the effects of this crime and the serious consequences thereof on the society, utilizing the experience of the National Committee on-Combating Human-Trafficking and the Ministry of Social Development in this regard.
The Committee reviewed an initial perception on organizing a workshop on the right to a healthy environment including two proposals in this regard. The Committee decided to entrust the Secretariat-General to study this idea and to give feedback on the subject. In addition, the Committee decided to entrust Secretariat-General with preparing a review that includes the final observations made by Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and those likely to be implemented in preparation for presenting this review to the Committee at the next regular meeting.
