Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee Holds its 15h Regular Meeting

The NIHR's Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee held its fifteenth ordinary meeting on Wednesday, 14th May 2014 headed by HE Dr. Mai Suleiman Al Otaibi. The meeting was held at the NIHR's headquarters in the Seef District and was attended by Committee Members HE. Dr. Fawzeya Saed Al Saleh and HE. Dr. Badr Mohammed Adel.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the findings of the report on the visit made by the NIHR and the Supreme Council for the Environment to the Ma'ameer Village coast in light of the various reports in some local newspapers on an oil (diesel) leakage accident involving a pipe in the sea owned by a company located in the region.
In addition, the Committee discussed the initial visions prepared by the Secretariat- General on the final observations made by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the relevant authorities expected to act on such observations. Finally, the Committee decided to prepare a time frame to discuss all recommendations and ways proposed to participate in the implementation thereof. The Committee decided to conclude the remaining discussions about the same issue in the next meeting.
