NIHR’s Committee on the Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty convenes its 8th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on the Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty convened its 8th regular meeting under the chairpersonship of Dr. Hameed Ahmed Husain and membership of Mrs. Deena Abdulrahman Alladhi and
Mr. Ammar Ahmed Albannai. The meeting was held at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District.
The Committee opened its meeting by reviewing the actions taken with regard to its previous resolutions and recommendations. It also submitted some of the subjects related to some of the cases monitored at the centers that were visited during the past months to the NIHR's Committee on Public Rights and Freedoms for consideration and legal opinion, being the Committee concerned with providing proposals and recommendations in all that would promote and protect human rights and examining the convenience of legislative and regulatory provisions to regional and international treaties on human rights.
The Committee also discussed the course of its visits during this month to some detention and care centers and examined what has been monitored during those visits and its recommendations thereupon. It also approved its proposed plan for December visits.
