NIHR’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities Convenes its 17th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities has convened its 17th regular meeting, which was held at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef district, under presidency of D. Malallah Al-Hammadi and membership of Mrs. Hala Fayez and D. Hooreya Abbas.
The Committee opened its agenda by reviewing its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon, especially those related to the visits performed by it to the correction and rehabilitation centres based upon special cases monitored via the social media.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed developing a mechanism to follow up the recommendations issued by it and the actions taken thereupon by the authorities concerned with their implementation, which shall be included in the Committee’s agenda on a permanent basis during its monthly meetings, based upon the keenness to activate the oversight role of the NIHR’s work.
