NIHR’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities convenes its 25th Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities has convened its 25th regular meeting, under the chairpersonship of D. Malallah Al-Hammadi, and membership of Mrs. Hala Ramzi Fayez and D. Hooreya Abbas Hassan.
The Committee opened its agenda by reviewing its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon. During the meeting, the Committee discussed a proposal for field visits to be conducted during the coming period, and agreed to visit a number of educational institutions and centres to find out the availability of various rights and guarantees for students and educational and administrative staff stipulated and prescribed by law in a manner consistent with the basic principles of international human rights standards.
On the other hand, the Committee discussed the outcomes and recommendations of its inspection visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre in Jaw region, meeting with a number of inmates, listening to their requests and taking notes based on the complaints received by the NIHR from a number of inmates related to healthcare.
