NIHR’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities Convenes its 30th Regular Meeting

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities has convened its 30^th regular meeting, under the chairpersonship of Dr. Malallah J. Al-Hammadi, and membership of Ms. Hala Ramzi and Dr. Hooreya Abbas Hassan, at the NIHR’s Headquarters in the Seef District.

The Committee opened its agenda by reviewing the action taken with regard to its previous resolutions and recommendations, discussed what happened regarding the visit it made to the Minor Convicts' building in the Dry Dock area, and followed-up on what was done regarding the visit report.

The Committee also completed its discussions on the field visits that it will conduct during the coming period to a number of detention centres in public security directorates, in order to determine the extent of the detainees' continued enjoyment of the rights assigned to them and stipulated in the national legislation and international treaties concerned with the promotion and protection of human rights, as well as to Buhair Valley region, with the aim to follow-up on what was done regarding its previous recommendations related to everyone's enjoyment of the right to a healthy, safe and secure environment.
