Meeting

Chaired by Dr. Malallah Jaffar Al-Hammadi, the forty-sixth regular meeting of the Detention and Facilities Visiting Committee was conducted. The meeting focused on reviewing the outcomes of visits made to various agencies as part of the committee's ongoing efforts to monitor and evaluate human rights conditions.

The Committee further reviewed the progress of actions taken to implement its prior decisions and recommendations. This included particularly the coordination with relevant bodies to organize a roundtable event aimed at highlighting the implementation mechanisms of Law No. (4) of 2021, concerning reformative justice for children and their protection against maltreatment.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Committee proceeded to discuss the plans for its upcoming field visits for the remaining months of the year. These visits will cover a number of rehabilitative and reformative centers, healthcare and social welfare institutions, and educational facilities, with the aim of assessing the availability of fundamental rights for the residents or recipients of services in these institutions, in alignment with national laws and relevant international treaties.
