Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee holds its 13th Regular Meeting

The NIHR Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee held its thirteenth ordinary meeting on Thursday, 27th March 2014 headed by H.E. Dr. Mai Suleiman Al Otaibi. The meeting, which was held at NIHR's headquarters in the Seef District was attended by Committee Members H.E. Dr. Fawzeya Saed Al Saleh and HE. Dr. Badr Mohammed Adel.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed what action was taken regarding the recommendations made by the Committee at its previous meetings, which were to be submitted to the Council of Commissioners; especially those recommendations related to Secretariat-General's communication with the delegation of the technical team of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights existing in the Kingdom for the purpose of consultation and cooperation about holding a workshop concerned with education and training in field of human rights and another workshop related to the executive program of the strategy and action plan of the NIHR for 2014.
The Committee discussed the initial views presented by the Secretariat- General about the mechanism proposed for NIHR's follow- up and monitoring of the extent of the Government's approval of the final remarks concluded by the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) following the discussion of the periodic report of the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition, the Committee entrusted the Secretariat-General with preparing a report on the reservations entered by the Kingdom on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and preparing an initial perception for the visions of the NIHR on executing the final remarks of CEDAW Committee, stressing that the Committee is provided with such remarks during the next ordinary periodic meeting.
