Meeting

The Economic, Social and Cultural Committee of the National Institution for the Human Rights (NIHR) held its 9th ordinary meeting which was presided over by Her Excellency Dr. Fawziah Said Al-Saleh, and member Her Excellency Dr. May Sulaiman Al-Otaibi, at the premises of NIHR at Seef District.

The meeting discussed the report prepared by the General Secretariat of the pledge and non-pledge mechanisms which require filing of periodic reports by NIHR. A paper was presented at the meeting on the terms of reference and jurisdictions of NHIR permanent committees related to consideration of the periodic reports filed by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the treaties commissions concerned with tracking implementation by the countries of their obligations as per the international deeds of human rights. During the meeting, the committee recommended the signing of a memorandum of understanding between NIHR and the International Peace Institute. The committee also continued discussion of the draft of the training plan and educational functions that NIHR will implement next year.
