NIHR’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities Convenes its 5th Regular Meeting

TThe National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Committee on Visiting Detention Places and Facilities has convened its 5th Regular meeting at the NIHR headquarters in the Seef District under the chairpersonship of Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi and membership of Mrs. Dina Al-Ladhi and Mr. Daniel Cohen,
The Committee opened its meeting by reviewing its previous resolutions and recommendations and the actions taken thereupon. The Committee also discussed the possibility of conducting field visits to a number of correction, rehabilitation and detention centres and some public and private educational institutions and centres, with the aim to closely examine the actions taken by the administrations of those centres and determine the extent of their commitment to human rights standards, based upon the keenness to activate the NIHR’s oversight role in the field of protection and promotion of human rights.
