NIHR Participates in a Training Workshop on the Tools of Monitoring and Follow-up of Reproductive Health Rights
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by member of the Council of Commissioners Dr. Hameed Hussein, participated in a workshop on reproductive rights, which was organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Middle East and North Africa, held in Amman, the capital of Jordan.
In his worksheet presented at the workshop, Dr. Hameed Hussein stated that the health services in the Kingdom of Bahrain started in 1902 and significantly developed during the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, may God protect him, as a number of hospitals were established to provide specialized medical services to both citizens and non-citizens, in addition to the construction and furnishing of healthcare centers with the highest level of medical technology in various Kingdom regions to provide healthcare services on a free-of-charge basis.
With regard to services provided to women, Dr. Hameed pointed out that obstetrics and gynecology clinics are available in all of those centers, which pay great attention to pregnant women, through provision of comprehensive medical care before, during and after pregnancy as well as periodic check-ups for women, medical examination for prospective couples and family counseling, indicating the NIHR’s role in the enhancement and protection of the right to health.
