NIHR holds an Awareness Lecture to the Filipino Community

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) continues its awareness programs within its role to disseminate the culture of human rights for expatriate workers, where it organized a lecture on its competencies and mechanism of submitting complaints to it, which targeted the Filipino community.

The lecture was presented by Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the NIHR, who briefed the attendees on the services provided by the NIHR to expatriate workers and its role in the service of the community, stating that such events shall reduce the risks to expatriate workers by raising their awareness of their rights and duties.

For their part, the attendees stated that they needed such events that benefit all citizens and residents, and called on for holding them frequently as many of the expatriate workers are unaware of their rights and duties, expressing their appreciation for the NIHR’s hard work to reach the maximum level of protection and promotion in the human rights area, praising the toll-free hotline of the NIHR (80001144) for receiving complaints and applications for assistance as well as the induction handbook distributed during the event in the Tagalog language.
