NIHR organizes a Workshop on “the Rights of People living with HIV/AIDS”
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a workshop on “the Rights of People living with HIV/AIDS” in the Kingdom of Bahrain, presented by Mr. Basim Mohamed Al-Sharjee, Research and Teaching Assistant at the College of Law, University of Bahrain, at the NIHR Training Center.
The workshop aimed at identifying the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, providing them with means of legal protection, seeking to eliminate all forms of discrimination against people living with AIDS / HIV, illustrating some of the misconceptions on it, raising legal awareness of the disease and enlightening the members of the society about the danger of HIV/AIDS and ways of its transmission.
The interactive workshop, which included a number of representatives of ministries, relevant authorities, human rights and professional associations and human rights defenders, called for the elimination of the virus not those living with it, who are considered the class that is most entitled to care in accordance with the human rights, global and regional mechanisms.
The attendees also praised the Law No. (1) of 2017 on the protection of society against HIV/AIDS and the protection of the rights of persons living with it, which is one of the most advanced legislations on the Arab and regional levels.
