NIHR Participates in the National Human Rights Institutions Workshop on “Labor Rights”
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by Researcher in Legal Affairs Department Mrs. Noura Al-Banhawi, participated in the national human rights institutions workshop on “Labor Rights”, organized by the Asia and Pacific Forum (APF)’s Regional Office in Doha, Qatar.
The workshop was aimed at developing, fostering and building the capabilities of national human rights institutions staff, by raising their awareness and knowledge of guarantees of respect for labor rights, with regard to national precautions taken by each State as well as international and regional means of protection for labor rights, shedding light on the essential role of national institutions and civil society organizations in the protection and fostering of human rights, as well as their responsibilities to foster and protect labor rights on all national, regional and international levels and to find out ways of cooperation between national institutions and governmental bodies concerned with fostering and protection of labor rights.
The two-day workshop dealt with ways of cooperation between national human rights institutions and governmental bodies concerned with fostering and protection of labor rights as well as international and regional mechanisms for human rights protection and the national system for labor rights respect, focusing on the role of national human rights institutions in fostering and protection of human rights and building partnerships for cooperation between the national institutions and civil society organizations.
The workshop ended by the development of a series of participants’ recommendations and proposals to exchange experiences and expertise on the regional level, aiming at raising awareness of human rights in general and expatriate labor rights.
