NIHR Organizes the 2nd Event of “My Rights” Program for Public Sector Employees
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in partnership with the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and Bahrain Institute for Political Development, and in cooperation with the Shura Council, organized a training course entitled “Analysis and Interpretation Skills to Adapt National Legislation to International Standards”, under “My Rights” Program for the public sector employees, which was introduced by Dr. Mohamed Amin Al-Maidani, the international expert in the human rights field, and Chairman of the Arab Center for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Education in France, for two consecutive days, at the NIHR’s headquarters.
The training course aims to create national cadres to assess the national human rights visions through performance evaluation against international standards and obligations of Bahrain, in order to develop and support mechanisms for human rights protection within the implementation of Bahrain’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The training course dealt with several themes, notably the concept of adaptation of national legislation to international standards, the scope of obligations of the State under the international conventions, the skills of analysis and interpretation of legislative texts and international conventions and the way to harmonize legislation with international human rights standards, in addition to practical application.
