NIHR holds a Training Course on visiting Places of Detention
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) held a training course on “visiting places of detention” for members of the NIHR’s Board of Commissioners, presented by Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi, NIHR’s Vice Pchairperson, and Ms. Maria Khouri, Head of the NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The course was offered at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District.
The training course was aimed giving the participants a brief overview of the places of detention, the standard legal bases and the most important criteria to be verified, starting from undeclared visits and inspection processes and methods and ending with issuance of the final report.
This course falls within the terms of reference of the NIHR based upon its Establishment Law in order to activate its role in the protection and promotion of human rights.
