National Institution for Human Rights participates in training Program in the University of Nottingham in Britain
Mrs. Shaikha Ahmed Alolaiwi, legal researcher at the Department of Legal Affairs in the NIHR's Secretariat-General, participated in a training program on child rights organized by The Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC) at the University of Nottingham during the period from 27th June to 01st July 2016 within the framework of the strategy adopted by NIHR to develop and train all its staff.
Various working papers were presented during the program. A working paper was presented on day one on the close relationship between child's rights and business and ways of utilizing this relationship by raising awareness of child's rights and protecting such rights from any form of breach. Day two sessions focused on the place of children's rights within the economic and social human rights and the role played by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in child protection. The sessions of day three dealt with the legal status of children armed conflicts, refuge and sexual exploitation. Day four sessions focused on children’s rights and the principle of equality. The sessions on day five of the training program concluded with dealing with the protection of children's rights as referred to in the UN System and methods of utilizing them at national levels.
A number of UN experts on protecting child rights, representatives from National Institutions for Human Rights in Europe, some UN special rapporteurs, students from the University of Nottingham as well as human rights activists in field of child rights protection and promotion participated in the training program.
