Launch of the Human Rights Legal Clinic Program at NIHR

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in collaboration with the College of Law at the University of Bahrain, has launched the first lecture of the Human Rights Legal Clinic Program. This session was attended by 15 students from the university, aiming to enhance their legal knowledge and practical skills in human rights.
At the beginning of the session, Ms. Fatima Al-Tarif, head of the Training and Education Section, provided an introductory overview of the program's focus areas and the skills to be developed. This was followed by a lecture from Mr. Mohammed Al-Najjar, head of the Legal Affairs Section, on "Fundamental Rights and Freedoms in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain."
This cohort is the twenty-fourth to participate in the program, which has trained over 260 students to date. The second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, running from February to May 2025, will include more than 15 lectures covering a range of topics. These topics include drafting legal opinions on complaints, preparing reports on specific monitoring cases, researching electronic sources, and writing advisory opinions regarding the alignment of national legislation with international human rights standards.
