NIHR Delivers an Educational Lecture on Breast Cancer
In conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, organised annually in October, the Secretariat-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), in cooperation with Al-Salam Specialist Hospital, delivered an educational lecture for the NIHR employees on the importance of early detection of breast cancer, presented by Dr. Zahra Khalifa, a Family Medicine Consultant at Al-Salam Hospital.
During the lecture, Dr. Zahra pointed out the importance of organising this event on an annual basis to raise awareness of the dangers of this disease among women, its stages and ways to prevent it, as well as the importance of conducting regular check-ups, which provide an opportunity for early detection of the disease and obtainment of the necessary treatment to reach high survival rates.
The lecture also dealt with the causes and symptoms of the disease, how to perform self-examination, and the importance of prevention through periodic examination, healthy food and exercising.
