NIHR hosted a workshop titled "Introducing the Role of the National Institution for Human Rights in Accordance with the Paris Principles," which saw participation from representatives of civil society organizations and members of the Institution’s Board of Commissioners.
Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of NIHR, inaugurated the workshop with a speech emphasizing the importance of forging extensive partnerships across various sectors of Bahraini society to realize the institution's vision and mission. He highlighted the significant progress of civil society institutions in Bahrain, attributing it to the reform initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Al-Derazi underscored the growth in numbers, diversification of activities, and enhanced performance of these institutions, particularly in engaging with public affairs, thus bolstering their impact across economic, social, cultural, political, and civil realms.
Dr. Badr Mohammed Adel, NIHR Commissioner, led the workshop, delving into various topics concerning the work and mandate of NIHR, alongside national mechanisms aimed at promoting and safeguarding human rights in Bahrain. He also explored the international framework guiding the institution's activities and its legal underpinnings, while discussing the relationship between NIHR and civil society organizations, and strategies to bolster communication between them.
