NIHR organizes a Workshop on the 36th Session of the Human Rights Council
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a workshop on the “36th Session of the Human Rights Council”, as one of the human rights training programs for civil society organizations, presented by Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Derazi, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, at the NIHR’s Training Center in its headquarters in Seef district. The workshop was attended by a number of representatives of civil society organizations and human rights defenders as well as a group of students and those interested in the human rights issue.
The workshop aimed to raise public awareness among all participants about the creation of the Human Rights Council and explain the agenda of the 36th Session of the Human Rights Council.
The workshop covered several topics, including creation of the Human Rights Council, election of the State Members of the Council, Human Rights Council’s Office and its components, meetings held by the Human Rights Council, identification of special sessions of the Council, authority that receives the Human Rights Council decrees, mechanism for organizing the working sessions of the Council, procedures of submitting complaints to the Huma Rights Council, brief on the Advisory Committee, relationship between the Human Rights Council and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, plenary sessions of the Human Rights Council, mechanism for participation of non-governmental organizations in the Human Rights Council and the role of non-governmental organizations in the Universal Periodic Review.
