NIHR is holding an Awareness Lecture at Keraleeya Club
Pursuant to the role of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) in spreading the culture of human rights and raising awareness of the residents of their rights and duties, Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the NIHR, gave an awareness lecture on the competences of the NIHR and its mechanism for receiving complaints, at the Keraleeya Club in Manama, in the presence of more than 150 people.
Ms. Khoury explained that this initiative supports the NIHR’s permanent and continuous work in the protection of human rights, especially in the area of migrant labor rights by extending bridges of communication with various foreign communities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with a view to reach maximum levels of protection and promotion in the human rights aspect.
During the lecture, introductory leaflets were distributed about the NIHR in Malayalam in order to introduce its services to expatriate workers. The attendees expressed their appreciation to the NIHR for organizing this awareness event targeting the Indian community, based upon its keenness to introduce them to their role in serving the community and benefiting all citizens and residents.
The NIHR intends to further establish a number of events in foreign communities’ clubs in Bahrain during the 4th quarter of this year, in order to promote the established human rights principle “human rights for all”.
