National Institution for Human Rights organized 3 day training course on the (international and national mechanisms for the promotion and protection of human rights) for members of the together for Human Rights Association at the headquarters of the National Institution in AlSeef district.
The Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights HE Dr. Abdul Aziz Hassan Abul inaugurated the course by a speech in which he stressed that this event is part of the National Institution activities in the promotion and dissemination of human rights culture, and to strengthen cooperation with all civil society organizations related to human rights frameworks competence
During the first two days of the training course, Secretary-General of the National Institution Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Farhan gave an explanation of the General concepts of human rights, highlighting human rights fundamental divisions, their definition and distinguishing characteristics, obligations of the State's emanating from the approval of or from joining international human rights instruments and the extent of the relationship between these rights and other issues such as sovereignty, democracy and corruption.
He also explained the United Nations covenant and non-covenant mechanisms in the promotion and protection of human rights.
In the third day the training activities was concluded by three sessions, the first of which was on "The role of National Institution for Human Rights in the promotion and protection of human rights," presented by Mr. Mohamed Ahmed al-Najjar, the acting head of the legislative unit in the institution, followed by a session on "Search in bibliographic references and electronic sources related to human rights "presented by Ms. Latifa Rashid Al- Jalahma, head of the treaty bodies in the institution, while the final session was devoted to a statement of" National Institution for Human Rights competence in the field of promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain" presented by Mr. Badea Ali Jbeil, head of the complaints unit in the institution.
