NIHR organized consultative meeting to discuss the legal status and monitoring the inspection of correction centers
The NIHR Organized a consultative meeting to discuss the legal status and monitoring the inspection of the correction centers and the rights of prisoners and detainees in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the headquarters of the NIHR in Al seef district.
The meeting was organized in cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights within the technical cooperation program with the participation of a number of representatives from the Ministries and concerned State organizations.
During the opening of the meeting, HE Dr Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, the Chairperson of the NIHR welcomed the participants and affirmed the importance of holding such meetings as they relate to discussing the legal status and the monitoring and inspection of the rehabilitation centers and prisoners' rights. He pointed out to the formation of the commission of the prisoners and detainees rights under Royal Order No. 13 of 2014 which a proof the keenness of the government to value the importance of giving detainees their full rights in line with the principle of human rights.
The lecture focused on the legal aspects of the monitoring and inspection of the rehabilitation centers, and the international laws related to prisoners' rights as well as the role that should be played by those actors to abide to this.
