NIHR opens the technical cooperation program with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights

The NIHR Opened, on Thursday morning, the first of the technical cooperation program organized with the High Commissioner for Human Rights with a lecture on "The Role of NIHR in protecting and promoting  human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain", the program comes within the framework of cooperation and coordination between the NIHR and the High Commissioner within the strategy and Action Plan of NIHR for the years 2013-2016, to promote and develop a culture of human rights,  disseminate the concept of human rights and to take advantage of the experts in this field.

In a speech given by the Chairperson of NIHR HE Dr Abdulaziz Hassan Abul in a speech on the occasion of the opening of the technical cooperation program, he asserted the importance of this cooperation so as to promote human rights in the kingdom.

HE Dr Abdulaziz Abul asserted that the NIHR is keen to hold a genuine partnership between High Commissioner for Human Rights, especially after the recent meeting at the Palais des Nations in Geneva during which  aspects of cooperation and support to be provided by the High Commissioner for Human Rights to the NIHR for the promotion, protection and development of human rights were discussed.

He pointed out that the NIHR is keen to enhance cooperation with all institutions of civil society and human rights activists in order to achieve national partnership for all supporters of the various areas of human rights.

HE Dr Abdulaziz Abul explained that this event shared between the partners in Bahrain and the High Commissioner for Human Rights is the first of close cooperation for the good and progress to the revolution of human rights in the kingdom.

On the other hand, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDPI) Mr. Peter Grohman praised cooperation between the United Nations and the NIHR. He Stressed the importance of the partnership between the United Nations and the NIHR in the Kingdom, and the promotion and protection of the concepts of human rights culture.

Meanwhile, Mr. Vladlen Stefanov, head of the national institutions and regional mechanisms section in UNHCR presented a paper that includes an analytical reading of the draft law on the NIHR in the Kingdom of Bahrain and their agreeability with the Paris Principles. 

Also, Ms. Jamila Alsiauri member of the National Council for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Morocco presented a paper on the experience of discrimination between States, civil society and the effectiveness of the national institution. 

Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Alderazi Vice Chairperson of the NIHR and Head of complaints, monitoring and follow-up committee presented a paper on the Current reality and the future aspirations of the NIHR.

The program concluded with general discussion about the obstacles, inadequacy and recommendations for supporting the role of the NIHR.
