NIHR participates in a Regional Discussion Forum in Egypt
The National Human Rights Institution, represented by Dr. Bader Mohammed Adel, a member of the Council of Commissioners, participated in a regional discussion forum on "Reducing the Death Penalty in Egypt" This forum was organized by the Arab Organization for Human Rights in partnership with the United Nations Fund for the Support of the Activation of the Universal Periodic Review Recommendations.
The forum, which spanned two consecutive days, explored proposals aimed at reinforcing the commitment to limit the death penalty to the gravest of crimes and foster practical recommendations that could be implemented to develop the criminal and penal systems in the region, aligning them with the countries' human rights obligations.
The event comprised five intensive working sessions, an opening session, and a concluding session, with notable participation from representatives of 14 Arab countries. The participants included human rights experts, legal professionals, journalists, leaders of Arab human rights organizations, and political science professors.
