NIHR conducted a consultative meeting with several associations focused on individuals with disabilities.
Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, affirmed that the institution's priorities include the improvement of conditions for individuals with disabilities, the protection of their rights, and the establishment of comprehensive measures to ensure their genuine equality within society. Alderazi emphasized the significance of fostering partnerships with governmental, private, and civil society entities to collaborate on enhancing services and legislation pertaining to people with disabilities. The aim is to continue the progress in improving their circumstances while safeguarding the achievements made.
These remarks were made during a consultative meeting with representatives from various civil society organizations dedicated to individuals with disabilities. This meeting is part of a series of consultative sessions organized by the institution with civil society entities. The discussions focused on the challenges faced by this demographic and the extent to which they enjoy their public rights and freedoms. The goal is to provide support and formulate suitable proposals that contribute to the advancement of their rights.
Several members of the Board of Commissioners of the National Institution participated in the meeting, along with representatives from organizations such as the Bahraini Deaf Society, the Autistic Society, the Bahraini Motivators Society for People with Disabilities, the Bahrain Mobility International Center, the Bahraini Society for Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, and the Friendship Society for the Blind.
