NIHR organizes a Discussion Session to Support Individuals Included in the Royal Pardon and Beneficiaries of Alternative Sanctions and Measures
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a discussion session in collaboration with civil society organizations to support individuals covered by the royal pardon and beneficiaries of alternative sanctions and measures, in line with directives and decisions from the Cabinet. This initiative aims to ensure their successful reintegration into society and prevent recidivism.
Eng. Ali Ahmad Alderazi, Chairperson of NIHR, inaugurated the event. He welcomed participants and highlighted the event's basis on agreements made during the consultative team's meetings with human rights-focused civil society organizations. He emphasized the significance of this discussion in promoting the social reintegration of the pardon recipients, exploring opportunities, and discussing initiatives to enhance their life quality. He affirmed the institution’s commitment to ensuring their rights and continuously working with relevant agencies to provide the necessary support for these individuals' smooth integration into society.
The discussion, hosted at the NIHR's training centre, saw active involvement from the Council of Commissioners and the consultative team members from various human rights organizations and activists. The session facilitated an exchange of ideas, addressing challenges, exploring opportunities, and devising appropriate solutions to fully utilize available resources.
Furthermore, the discussion aimed to raise awareness about the procedures and programs that governmental bodies provide for the rehabilitation and integration of individuals covered by the royal pardon and those benefiting from alternative measures. These programs span several rights, including education, health, housing, employment, and freedom of movement. The session also tackled the practical challenges in implementing these rights on the ground and proposed optimal ways to ensure their comprehensive enjoyment, thereby easing their integration into society.
