NIHR conducted a consultative meeting with the Free Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions
Engineer Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, the Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, engaged in talks with a delegation from the Free Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, led by Mr. Yaqoub Yousef Mohammed, Chairman of the Executive Council. This meeting was part of the continuous consultative sessions initiated by the National Institution with various civil society organizations.
At the start of the meeting, Al-Derazi warmly welcomed the delegation, recognizing the commendable efforts of the Free Union of Bahrain Workers in supporting and strengthening the Bahraini labor movement while actively addressing associated issues.
Throughout the meeting, both parties discussed various points aimed at enhancing collaboration between the National Institution and the Union. Key topics included monitoring challenges and obstacles faced by workers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, developing joint plans and strategies to improve the well-being of all workers and retirees, and establishing a mechanism for bilateral meetings to address complaints related to labor rights and work towards suitable resolutions.
The two entities also agreed to conduct collaborative training programs and workshops to raise awareness about workers' rights. Additionally, they pledged to organize future meetings to deliberate on proposals for the development of national laws in alignment with international charters and covenants ratified by the Kingdom.
