NIHR receives a delegation from Kuwait, led by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs.

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) hosted a delegation from the State of Kuwait, led by Her Excellency Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher bint Ibrahim Al Sabah, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs. The visit aimed to familiarize the delegation with NIHR's operational processes and the responsibilities and powers of the Child Rights Commissioner.

During the meeting, Dr. Malallah Al Hamadi, Head of Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee, greeted the guests and outlined NIHR’s approach to addressing human rights issues across all levels.


Dr. Houria Hassan, Child Rights Commissioner at NIHR, detailed the scope of the Commissioner’s role in advancing and protecting the rights of children within the Kingdom, in collaboration with various national mechanisms.

The Kuwaiti delegation expressed their appreciation for the effective role played by NIHR in protecting and promoting human rights and expressed their desire to exchange expertise and information to achieve shared goals.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Yasser Ghanem Shaheen, the Secretary-General of NIHR, and several representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials from the two brotherly countries.
