On the Occasion of the 12th Anniversary of its Establishment, NIHR highly appreciates the Permanent Support of His Majesty the King for the Human Rights System
Coinciding with the 12th anniversary of the establishment of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the NIHR Council of Commissioners, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation, on his own behalf and on behalf of the members of the Council of Commissioners, the Secretary-General and the staff of the Secretariat-General, to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Monarch of the country, for His Majesty’s permanent support for the NIHR, which was the yield of the Comprehensive Reform Project, as well as for His Majesty’s continuous directives to advance the human rights system in a transparent and independent manner in accordance with the Paris Principles.
Al-Derazi stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, is continuing its consistent approach in preserving human rights and supporting everything that would respect these rights, in a way that ensures security and tranquility for all citizens, noting that despite the exceptional circumstances of Covid-19 witnessed by the world from 2020 until now, the NIHR was able to continue its entrusted work with a steady pace in protecting and promoting human rights through various available means, pointing out that the NIHR has spared no effort to achieve more achievements during the past two years, stating that it is working by virtue of its wide mandate, which was stipulated in its Establishment Law, to apply all royal directives to promote and protect human rights in light of the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to all relevant international covenants and laws.
Al-Derazi called - on this occasion - for the importance of concerted efforts and determination to contribute to the consolidation of human rights principles, within the framework of cooperation and partnership between official agencies, civil society institutions and the private sector in order to achieve the lofty humanitarian vision of His Majesty the King, which calls for tolerance, coexistence, mutual respect, acceptance of others and understanding between different religions, races and sects, and work to respect human rights, in a way that supports comprehensive and sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
