HE the Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights receives HE the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee in the Representatives Council
The Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights HE Dr. Abdul Aziz Hassan Abul received the Chairman of the Permanent Qualitative Human Rights Committee at the Representatives Council HE MP Khalid Abdul Aziz Al Shaer and members of the committee at the headquarters of the National Institution in Alseef district.
At the beginning of the meeting the Chairperson of the National Institution welcomed the Chairman and members of the Permanent Qualitative Human Rights Committee at the Representatives Council and reviewed the role played by the National Institution for the promotion and protection of human rights touching on the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the role of the National Institution in dealing with it in accordance with the terms of reference assigned to it.
For his part, the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee praised the first annual report of the National Institution for 2013, and affirmed the importance of the role that the National Institution plays in the field of spreading human rights culture and also expressed willingness to provide all the support for the National Institution to achieve its objectives and its terms of reference. He emphasized the need to put, in the near future, a work mechanism between the Human Rights Committee of the Council of Representatives and The National Institution for Human Rights to follow up with the recommendations of the National Institution report and push the human rights file forward to serve the Bahraini citizens.
He also congratulated the National Institution on achieving the Chaillot Prize for the promotion of human rights in the GCC region for 2014, deservedly granted by the European Union Mission for the achievements of the institution in the field of human rights in Bahrain.
The meeting was attended by MP Adel Hamid Jaafar, MP Mohammad Yousuf Al Marefi and MP Hamad Al-Salem Al-Dosari from the Representatives Council and from the National Institution by HE Abdullah Alderazi Vice Chairperson, Head of the Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee, HE Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Farhan Secretary-General, and Mr. Yasser Ghanem Shaheen, Director of the legal Affairs Department.
