Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights receives the new US Ambassador
Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights HE Dr. Abdul Aziz Hassan Abul received the new USA Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Mr. William Rubik at the National Institution headquarters in Al-Seef district.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the National Institution welcomed the US Ambassador on the occasion of his appointment as the new Ambassador to the Kingdom, and reviewed with him the role of the National Institution in the dissemination, promotion and protection of human rights, especially after the enactment of Law No. (26) of 2014 to establishment the National Institution which gives more administrative and financial autonomy in accordance with the known Paris Principles, and the achievement of the Chaillot Prize for the promotion of human rights in the GCC region of the Gulf for 2014, upon the nomination and support from the embassies of the European Union accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in honor of the distinguished role of the National Institution and its tireless efforts to promote and protect human rights in the Kingdom, as well as local and international tribute of the contents of the annual report of the National Institution for 2013 on the human rights situation in the Kingdom.
The two sides also touched on the importance of joint cooperation to direct the energies and build national capabilities in the field of human rights that go side-by-side with expanding the horizons of effectual partnership with all official stakeholders and civic society organizations that signify a partner and a key tributary to the empowering of state’s institutions.
For his part, the US Ambassador expressed his contentment on the role played by the National Institution in the promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by HE Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Alderazi Deputy Chairperson of the National Institution, a number of the Board of Commissioners’ members and the Secretary-General of the Institution.
