NIHR participated in the launch of the national awareness campaign to protect children from exploitation and cyber extortion.

Several members of the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) participated in the announcement of the launch of the national awareness campaign aimed at protecting children from exploitation and cyber extortion. This campaign is organized by the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and the Ministry of Information, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Information & eGovernment Authority, the NIHR, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, and the National Contact Center.

The campaign's objective is to raise awareness about the dangers children face in terms of exploitation and cyber extortion. It focuses on educating children, enhancing supervision by parents and guardians, understanding how to manage potential victim cases, and setting guidelines for children’s engagement with the cyber world and their use of internet-connected media, including the adoption of electronic protection applications.

The campaign was launched at a comprehensive meeting attended by representatives of the organizing and participating entities, along with several public figures. Notable attendees included His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al Buainain, the Public Prosecutor; His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council and Chief of the Court of Cassation; His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development; His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education; Her Excellency Ms. Rawan bint Najeeb Tofigi, Minister of Youth Affairs; and His Excellency General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, among other senior officials.

The campaign's events and activities are scheduled to begin today and will continue until the end of the year.
