Al Fadhel: Great Achievements of NIHR on 9th Anniversary of its Establishment
Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al Fadhel, Secretary General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), stated that the NIHR has attained many achievements during the nine years since its establishment thanks to the unlimited support by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, may Allah protect him, and the promulgation of the Royal Order No. (46) of 2009 on the Establishment of the NIHR and the Law No. (26) of 2014 modified by the Decree-Law No. (20) of 2016. Dr. Al Fadhel also stressed that the establishment of the NIHR as an independent national mechanism pursuant to the Paris Principles governing the action of the national human rights institutions around the world will promote and protect human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the establishment of the NIHR, which falls on 10 November, Dr. Al Fadhel said that the NIHR had recently launched the toll-free hotline for receiving complaints (80001144) and the Call Center enhanced with an integral Call Management System (CMS) with a view to improve the quality of the services provided by NIHR’s Call Center and Complaints Unit, in addition to opening a branch in the Expatriate Workers Protection and Support Center of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Person, emphasizing that such services have led to increased confidence and demand for NIHR’s various complaint mechanisms and applications for assistance.
The NIHR’s Secretariat General has also provided training and awareness programs in various areas aimed at disseminating the culture of human rights in the society, targeting all groups and organizing a set of international conferences and forums in partnership with relevant organization. The NIHR’s Secretary General pointed out that the success of the NIHR and the training and education of more than 2500 people this year confirm NIHR’s achievement of the desired objectives of training and education, which went beyond the expectations.
