NIHR participates in the ninth meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance.
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) participated in the ninth meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance and National Institutions for Human Rights, represented by its Chairperson, Eng. Ali Ahmad Alderazi, along with Dr. Hooriya Aldairi, the Child Rights Commissioner. The event took place in Moscow, spanning two consecutive days, under the auspices of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation.
Professor Tatiana Moskalkova, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, inaugurated the conference with a welcoming address to the delegations and discussed best practices for protecting human rights within the framework of society's digital transformation.
During the conference, Alderazi highlighted the pivotal role of focusing on human rights protection in the age of digitalization and the impact of artificial intelligence on significant transformations across various aspects of life. He noted that Bahrain employs digitalization as a strategy to build a just and inclusive society, which bolsters the right to health and access to information, despite substantial challenges related to data protection and privacy. He underscored the NIHR's commitment to safeguarding human rights amidst digital transformations and enhancing collaboration with the private sector to protect society.
On the second day, Alderazi delivered a presentation addressing the key issues of human rights protection in the healthcare sector, exploring general concepts, international instruments, and relevant national legislation. He advocated for improved healthcare services for people with disabilities and emphasized the importance of global solidarity in securing the right to health for all, particularly in conflict-affected areas. He stressed the significance of the right to health as a fundamental pillar of human rights and a crucial component in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 3, which focuses on good health and well-being.
