NIHR Chairperson receives the Assistant Chief of Public Security for Community Affairs, at the Ministry of Interior

Eng. Ali Ahmad Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), welcomed Brigadier Ammar Mustafa Al Sayed, the Assistant Chief of Public Security for Community Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, in the presence of Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Head of the Detention Centers and Facilities Visitation Committee, and several representatives from the Ministry’s Community Police Department.

During the meeting, Alderazi emphasized the vital role of community police in enhancing security and safety within neighborhoods and across various social groups. He highlighted the importance of partnerships in implementing human rights-focused initiatives, especially those targeting vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly.

The discussion also explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the NIHR and community police to support different social groups, in addition to organizing joint events. These include a roundtable to discuss the juvenile justice reform law later this year, aimed at raising awareness and understanding of child rights issues.

Brigadier Al Sayed expressed his appreciation for the new channels of cooperation with the NIHR, commending its effective role in defending fundamental rights and freedoms and promoting a culture of human rights respect in society.
